I have been bad with posting and will try to catch up today. I promise to upload picturs soon as our little guy is growing up so fast!
As you probably get from the subject, Owen is schedule to have tube surgery in Feb. While we are nervous about putting him to sleep, we are sooooo excited about the chance of him being ear infection free! At least so he doesn't have back to back double ear infections. This has been hard on him and us and we're hoping that sleeping improves too.
So, just a few updates on Owen and what he's doing now.
He is trying to talk and gets mad when we don't understand him. He talks all the time, it's too cute! He has started stringing 2-3 words together and lately has been telling me, "mommy get down" clear as day! We have the tallest kitchen cabinets known to man and I am constantly standing on a stool to get things. He comes up and repeats over and over, Mommy get down until I do. I have a sneaky feeling that he is told to get down a lot at school :) He has also started saying "down me, help" when he wants help get down. It took us forever to figure that out because he's saying it backwards. He used to say over and over "Mommy down me, down me help" but all running together. Then we got it one day and now he holds out his hand for help and just says "down me". It's so cute watching him explore and learn to say things.
He's also telling Sadie to get down too...which amazingly she understands. He points his little finger and says "Adie down" and she sits. He's also obsessed with animal noises and constantly walks around with his farm book and says duck, quack quack....dog, woof woof...cow, moo moo etc. He reads to Sadie too which is too cute!
Owen's favorite books are the Little Pookie series and we have read them so much he can say some of the words and knows what each page says.
Owen is a climbing monkey and can now climb ontop of everything. Before he couldn't get his leg high enough, but now he's into everything! He has started playing hide and seek again but this time he hides things and comes to us and puts his hands out like, where is it. Then we all search for it. He gets so excited when we get close and always gets it and trys to act like he's surprising us with it :)
Owen LOVES to be outside and LOVES to help Daddy with any and all projects! We are so ready for this winter to be over so daddy and Owen can play outside and O can help daddy with some projects. They love to throw balls and Owen has quite a arm. He throws left handed and if you give him something in his right hand, he transfers it to his left then throws it. He can throw things directly to us, in our hands. It's a bit odd how well he throws. Who knows, maybe we have a little baseball player.
We start soccer next weekend. Owen is going to love it! He will be on the SoccerBugs team which is the 18-24 month olds. We just found out that one of Owen's friends, James also goes to soccer the same time so we are excited to watch them play.
Owen has started to love brushing his teeth, thank goodness! We sing a song and he loves putting toothpaste on his brush. In the morning he has to use my sonicare so I have a special little soft tooth brush head for him.
Oh and O is definitely my child! He had dove dark chocolate for the first time over the holidays and let just say he loves it! Any time he sees a piece of candy he goes nuts. He also loves chocolate milk! And I have started to make him muffins but not only adding bananas and other fruit but now I add chocolate chips and he loves them. He has started to become a little picky with food, not the types of food but when he has them. Used to I could give him the same thing 2 days in a row and now he looks at me like, hello I ate this yesterday. So I have to be better about making new and different things. He eats with a fork and spoon and loves to dip everything into ketchup. I mean everything! Also he loves eggs and pancakes and daddy spoils him every weekend with 3 scrambled eggs (yes you read that correct) and 4 mini pancakes. Breakfast is by far Owen's favorite meal of the day.
Owen is wearing 12-18 month clothes still although his pants are getting a little short. Some 18 month and some 18-24 month clothes. He just moved into size 4 diapers and they are a little big but he is so long the 3's were looking a little small. He's in 5.5 wide shoes and we just got him some adorable New Balances. This child burns through shoes so fast :)
We go for Owen's 18 month check-up in a few weeks. Several weeks late but it's the first appt they had open. Will update on his stats then.

Another Ear Infection
Make that another double ear infection for Owen and sent us to the doctor on Christmas Eve...5th one that has been treated with antibiotics which means the next one sends us to the ENT. But we saw a different doctor this time, Dr. Farrel who we love and he said that hopefully we can wait until Owen turns 2 to make a decision to get tubes or not. He told us that before age 2 their faces are very round and around 2 they start to elongate. What that means for Owen is that right now his canals are horizontal and hopefully when his face gets longer they will also become longer and more on the downward slope so they will drain better. Let's hope so! But I have a feeling he may be like his mommy, I had tubes very early :(
