28 Weeks and Feeling Great!
I think I have officially become a pregnant lady ;-) This week I have done some major growing and for the first time started feeling a little uncomfortable. Thank goodness after a day or so I was feeling back to normal but there were a few days when I just felt like there wasn’t enough room for baby, organs and ribs…haha! If only you could remove a few ribs during pregnancy to allow for more room. I haven’t gained any weight, in fact I am still down 0.5 lb which I am sure is due to the fact that I am not able to work out. But that’s ok with me, I have to admit I am enjoying this little break from the gym! I am still doing some yoga stretches and little free weights from the couch...this is pretty funny to watch in person.
I went back to the doctor on Monday and everything is looking good. She was really happy with me that I was listening to her and resting as much as possible. My work has been great about everything and I am able to leave an hour early each day to head home and also work from home one day a week to make sure that I am not overdoing it. And I have to admit that it has really helped and I am feeling great! I guess the cramps and pressure I was feeling wasn’t normal after all and now I realize how I am supposed to feel on a day-to-day basis. It’s all a learning experience but my advice to newly pregnant girls, when your body feels tired, REST!! You can only push yourself so much and really, that’s what husbands are there for…let them pamper you…haha! I think Chris really likes that he has to take care of me and things around the house right now, he’s going to be such a great dad!!
We celebrated our 2 year Anniversary on Tuesday with a yummy dinner at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto...they seriously have the best fresh fish around! Because I book so many reservations for work, I had earned a $100.00 gift certificate so after an appetizer, 2 entrees, glass of wine for Chris and dessert our bill was $1.90, before tip...gotta love that ;-) It was my first time going out of the house for dinner or really anything in the past few weeks so it was really nice to spend some QT with my hubby!
New this week:
Deck – Well, it’s still a work in progress. Chris and Tony worked all last weekend to replace the boards and after some mistakes (by Home Depot) we have all the boards replaced and are going to finish the “trim box” on Sunday morning. It looks great and feels great to walk on unlike our old deck that was so warped.
Nursery – We were hoping to get the painting done this week but our handyman couldn’t make it to finish up on the crown and drywall so we can hopefully work on that this coming week…fingers crossed. We got the Jafa closet system all set and I feel a little more organized in the closet area ;-) It was a mess! Also our glider and ottoman came in so I can’t wait until my mom comes up next weekend and we can get it in the nursery.
Also for the nursery I bought a changing table on Craigslist. You all know me, I like to buy the cheapest things and fix them up. I planned to use the top of our large dresser as the changing area and just buying one of those contoured pads but then realized that I may not have enough room for diapers, wipes, etc. And also didn't want to scratch up the top of our nice dresser. So I found one for $10, bought some cute wood accent pieces for the shelves and top of the table, Chris putted up the corners that were broken, primed and painted it all white and it looks great!!!! I usually love to do all this work but Chris didn’t want me to get up so I watched and instructed as he did all the work. I will buy the contoured pad and I think it will look cute in the back corner of the nursery. It’s so shabby chic ;-)
Next weekend we are going to have our 3D/4D Ultrasound and I am so excited to see baby Frederick in motion. My mom and Chris’ mom are coming up to go with us. It will be a nice little Pre-Mothers Day prize and I am so glad they could both come up and go with me. I will make sure to post pictures after our appointment.
Here’s the updated list of weekly questions even though I think I updated most in the blurb above:
How far along? 28 weeks

How far along? 28 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Still 8 1/2 pounds total ;-)
Maternity clothes? Still the same, wearing mostly non-maternity shirts and maternity pants. Although some of my cardigans are a little snug…Guess it’s time to pack up my X-Smalls!
Stretch marks? Nope
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Getting up a few more times at night but I think I am just drinking more water now that it’s warmer out, must stay hydrated!
Best moment this week: Going to the doctor (yes, you are reading this right) and finding out that my resting is paying off and everything looks great! Also, getting the OK to attend Chris Giles wedding in Raleigh on Saturday, even though I can only go for a few hours. But it will be nice to do something other than sit on the sofa! And getting to visit C. Keen while we’re there.
Worst moment this week: ALLERGIES!! Can I say hello Allergy season! Chris and I both sound like we have severe head colds and can’t breathe. Makes for fun sleeping!
Movement: Still moving ALL THE TIME! He really likes my right side, just below my ribs and it can get pretty uncomfortable when he pokes his little butt up. But thankfully if I lay down and rub/push him a bit, he will move over. I have also been feeling feet, elbows, knees…something small poking up at night when I get really relaxed. It’s a weird feeling but very fun! I am hoping to be able to see his actual footprint soon and I will have my camera on standby when that happens.
Food cravings: Salads and Chicken Salad for the most part. And sweet tarts…strange!

Labor Signs: Not yet, thank goodness! And what I thought was maybe BH contractions was just baby boy poking his butt up…my doctor found it to be really funny how he balls up.
Milestones: Major Growth! I think that’s the biggest change this week for me. And finding out that baby Frederick is a little bigger than 28 weeks. My doctor still thinks that he will come a week earlier but we're still sticking with July 18th for now.
Looking forward to next week: Our 3D/4D Ultrasound!!!
