28 Weeks & Feeling Great!!

28 Weeks and Feeling Great!

I think I have officially become a pregnant lady ;-) This week I have done some major growing and for the first time started feeling a little uncomfortable. Thank goodness after a day or so I was feeling back to normal but there were a few days when I just felt like there wasn’t enough room for baby, organs and ribs…haha! If only you could remove a few ribs during pregnancy to allow for more room. I haven’t gained any weight, in fact I am still down 0.5 lb which I am sure is due to the fact that I am not able to work out. But that’s ok with me, I have to admit I am enjoying this little break from the gym! I am still doing some yoga stretches and little free weights from the couch...this is pretty funny to watch in person.

I went back to the doctor on Monday and everything is looking good. She was really happy with me that I was listening to her and resting as much as possible. My work has been great about everything and I am able to leave an hour early each day to head home and also work from home one day a week to make sure that I am not overdoing it. And I have to admit that it has really helped and I am feeling great! I guess the cramps and pressure I was feeling wasn’t normal after all and now I realize how I am supposed to feel on a day-to-day basis. It’s all a learning experience but my advice to newly pregnant girls, when your body feels tired, REST!! You can only push yourself so much and really, that’s what husbands are there for…let them pamper you…haha! I think Chris really likes that he has to take care of me and things around the house right now, he’s going to be such a great dad!!

We celebrated our 2 year Anniversary on Tuesday with a yummy dinner at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto...they seriously have the best fresh fish around! Because I book so many reservations for work, I had earned a $100.00 gift certificate so after an appetizer, 2 entrees, glass of wine for Chris and dessert our bill was $1.90, before tip...gotta love that ;-) It was my first time going out of the house for dinner or really anything in the past few weeks so it was really nice to spend some QT with my hubby!

New this week:

Deck – Well, it’s still a work in progress. Chris and Tony worked all last weekend to replace the boards and after some mistakes (by Home Depot) we have all the boards replaced and are going to finish the “trim box” on Sunday morning. It looks great and feels great to walk on unlike our old deck that was so warped.

Nursery – We were hoping to get the painting done this week but our handyman couldn’t make it to finish up on the crown and drywall so we can hopefully work on that this coming week…fingers crossed. We got the Jafa closet system all set and I feel a little more organized in the closet area ;-) It was a mess! Also our glider and ottoman came in so I can’t wait until my mom comes up next weekend and we can get it in the nursery.

Also for the nursery I bought a changing table on Craigslist. You all know me, I like to buy the cheapest things and fix them up. I planned to use the top of our large dresser as the changing area and just buying one of those contoured pads but then realized that I may not have enough room for diapers, wipes, etc. And also didn't want to scratch up the top of our nice dresser. So I found one for $10, bought some cute wood accent pieces for the shelves and top of the table, Chris putted up the corners that were broken, primed and painted it all white and it looks great!!!! I usually love to do all this work but Chris didn’t want me to get up so I watched and instructed as he did all the work. I will buy the contoured pad and I think it will look cute in the back corner of the nursery. It’s so shabby chic ;-)

Next weekend we are going to have our 3D/4D Ultrasound and I am so excited to see baby Frederick in motion. My mom and Chris’ mom are coming up to go with us. It will be a nice little Pre-Mothers Day prize and I am so glad they could both come up and go with me. I will make sure to post pictures after our appointment.

Here’s the updated list of weekly questions even though I think I updated most in the blurb above:

How far along? 28 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: Still 8 1/2 pounds total ;-)
Maternity clothes? Still the same, wearing mostly non-maternity shirts and maternity pants. Although some of my cardigans are a little snug…Guess it’s time to pack up my X-Smalls!
Stretch marks? Nope
Sleep: Getting up a few more times at night but I think I am just drinking more water now that it’s warmer out, must stay hydrated!
Best moment this week: Going to the doctor (yes, you are reading this right) and finding out that my resting is paying off and everything looks great! Also, getting the OK to attend Chris Giles wedding in Raleigh on Saturday, even though I can only go for a few hours. But it will be nice to do something other than sit on the sofa! And getting to visit C. Keen while we’re there.
Worst moment this week: ALLERGIES!! Can I say hello Allergy season! Chris and I both sound like we have severe head colds and can’t breathe. Makes for fun sleeping!
Movement: Still moving ALL THE TIME! He really likes my right side, just below my ribs and it can get pretty uncomfortable when he pokes his little butt up. But thankfully if I lay down and rub/push him a bit, he will move over. I have also been feeling feet, elbows, knees…something small poking up at night when I get really relaxed. It’s a weird feeling but very fun! I am hoping to be able to see his actual footprint soon and I will have my camera on standby when that happens.
Food cravings: Salads and Chicken Salad for the most part. And sweet tarts…strange!
Labor Signs: Not yet, thank goodness! And what I thought was maybe BH contractions was just baby boy poking his butt up…my doctor found it to be really funny how he balls up.
Milestones: Major Growth! I think that’s the biggest change this week for me. And finding out that baby Frederick is a little bigger than 28 weeks. My doctor still thinks that he will come a week earlier but we're still sticking with July 18th for now.
Looking forward to next week: Our 3D/4D Ultrasound!!!

26 weeks 5 days Update

I decided to add this list of questions that seems to be the popular way to update our blog. Also, updated picture at 26 weeks 5 days…YEAH we’re in the 3rd trimester! I don’t think I have grown too much but see for yourself!

How far along? 26 weeks 5 days

Total weight gain/loss: 9 lbs total gain (Lost 2 being on bed rest but I am sure those pounds will come back after all the chocolate I have been eating ;-)

Maternity clothes? Yes and No…Maternity Jeans and Pants but still wearing my same flowy shirts and everything works when you throw a cardigan over it.

Stretch marks? None so far ;-)

Sleep: Not the best sleep ever but able to fall asleep easily thanks to the boppy. I get up 1-2 times a night…not bad!

Best moment this week: Our bedding came in!! It’s perfect and I am so in love with it! Purchasing our Moses basket and rocker…love the basket bedding!! Thanks Mom for the rocker...it came today and matches perfect!

Worst moment this week: Bed rest!! For all of you that haven't heard I was put on modified bed rest last week. I have been on the sofa since Thursday and so ready to get out of the house and back to work. After my doctor’s appt today we found out that everything is OK, I just have to take it easy and stay off my feet when possible. I was doing way too much for a pregnant girl!

Movement: He has a party all day! Especially since I have been relaxing more he’s constantly moving, which I love! He still wakes me up at night but usually moves for 5mins or so and then goes back to sleep. But in the morning, forget it…he’s up around 6:45am so that means I am up too. Guess he’s preparing me for when he arrives.

Food cravings: Salad, Fruit and Deviled Eggs (I know strange but I have seriously had 3 a day since Easter).

Labor Signs: No labor signs, thank goodness! Still not sure if I am having BH contractions or if it’s just the baby poking his butt up :)

Milestones: Realizing that being pregnant is such a blessing and that I need to take better care of myself! Realizing that I do not have to do everything that moment and that I need to take time to relax and enjoy this time with baby Frederick! I have 13 weeks left to enjoy this close bond with baby Frederick and I need to cherish every moment!

Looking forward to next week: We have Chris Giles wedding in NC so I am excited to see our ECU peeps… Chris and Tony replacing our deck wood with new treated wood and having Crown Molding installed in the nursery and hopefully painting!

Easter:

We had a nice relaxing Easter weekend mostly due to me being on bed rest. My mom was supposed to come down but she decided it would be best to stay home and let me get some rest. Chris' parents came down for one night and it was nice to have them here. They helped Chris do some of our errands and then spent some QT with Chris :) They enjoyed lunch and dinner out and brought me yummy take-out while Sadie and I relaxed on the couch. Sunday Chris cooked Easter lunch as I directed him from the couch...he did a great job. That's about it for our weekend.

We are so blessed that our appointment went well today and want to thank everyone for your kind words! It's always a little scary when you find out some not-so-good news but we're so relieved that everything is OK. I still have to take it easy and stop pushing myself so much but it's great to know that baby Frederick is doing great and I am too :)

As promised here's a picture from tonight at 26 weeks 5 days...and a funny one with Sadie. She loves to have her picture taken and kept trying to stand in front of me while Chris was taking the picture...she's so cute but needs all the attention on her ;-)

Pictures...Finally!

I am attaching a few pictures from vacation and from tonight to show how much I have grown from 23 weeks to almost 26 weeks. Not the best pictures but here are a few ;-) I will post a picture each week from tonight on so you can see baby Frederick grow!

First day of vacation - 23weeks

Mid-week Vacation...heading to the gym and poking out a little more!

Vacation Mid-week...still looks little in this flowy dress :-)

Almost 26 weeks...Whoa...belly is showing now :-)

This weekend our parents are coming in town for Easter and we're really excited to have everyone together! We are going to work on the nursery on Sunday and I hope to post pictures soon. We took down the sheet mirrors and ran into a little snag...we need to have drywall repairs done before we can paint and hang new mirrors. So we're having our drywall guy come out this week for an estimate. Other than that, it's been a quiet week.

Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!!

25 Weeks

25 weeks

I can believe how quickly time passes! Just seems like yesterday that we found out we were expecting. I am adding some pics from the beginning so you can see baby Frederick and also see me grow…haha!

We had another ultrasound Tuesday because they were not able to get a look at the 4-chamber view of the heart last time due to the way baby's position…fine with us, we love seeing our little guy on the big screen! This was the first u/s that I really got emotional! We saw him with his little thumb in his mouth and then waving at us…too cute! The doctor also got a good laugh because baby Frederick was very active and kicked really hard and knocked the wand out of his hand. He said that with very small people (I loved hearing that!!) you are able to see and feel the movement more on the outside more but he hadn’t felt a kick like that in a while. Guess we have a very active little boy! We got some great pictures and he was the cutest little thing. Our last pictures haven’t been that great because they had issues with the printer. Baby’s heart looks great and they were able to get all the views they needed.

New this week:

Take a look at my belly…baby Frederick has really grown in the past 2 weeks. I haven’t gained anymore weight but he’s starting to pop out more. I love it and can feel him move all day. And for the first time on Sunday night, he woke me up moving around. I got a good laugh out of it and thought to myself; maybe he wants me to change positions. Now he wakes me up nightly...haha! I have been having trouble sleeping and can’t get comfortable but am now sleeping better thanks to the Boppy that my mom bought me. It’s a pain to get comfortable with but once you get settled, it’s a life-saver! I am a stomach and back sleeper so having to sleep on my side has been a challenge.

We finally ordered our glider chair after many trips to a local store to compare fabrics. It’s so hard to tell by a little swatch how the chair will look in person. We decided to go with a tan velvet/suede type material that is sooo soft! Thanks for my mom for buying the glider and ottoman for the nursery! We ordered it from H. Stadiums in Kinston and mom will drive it up in 4-6 weeks. I can’t wait!

Alicia and Neal came to visit this past weekend and we had a great time. We went to Alexandria to try on bridesmaid dresses which was so much fun! It was fun trying them on at 6+ months pregnant but even the sample sizes 8 & 10 were too big even on this belly…ego booster for me. The dresses she picked out are so pretty and it’s definitely one that I will wear again…seriously, it’s really cute! I think they were a little shocked to see how big I am now…honestly I am too. We had such a fun time just catching up and relaxing…oh, and shopping. We bought some really cute outfits for baby Frederick. Chris was too funny looking at all the baby stuff, he loved everything. Well, except for the shoes…we both can’t understand why infants need high-top Air Jordan tennis shoes or infant girls need a slipper with a little heel??? But we had a great laugh.

We decided to put a ceiling fan in the baby’s room because we have read several reports on how it helps to prevent SIDS. Big Thanks to Bud and Andi for coming over this weekend to install it! We are also going to paint the accent wall this weekend and work on the closet and replace the doors and get some type of organization system installed. And if we have time, we plan to paint the bathroom and install a new faucet and framed mirror…boy do we have a busy weekend ahead of us. I can’t wait to decorate!

Hope to post pictures next week of our progress this weekend…wish us luck with the painting!

FYI - Pics to come...having some computer issues : (
